The Chief Psychiatrist is a full-time role that will provide dedicated psychiatric expertise to support clinical governance across our mental and social health programs and will promote continuous improvement in the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA). The position will be pivotal to DVA in supporting the best mental health outcomes for veterans and their families. Reflecting the significance of this role, it will report directly to the Secretary.
The Chief Psychiatrist will provide expert psychiatric, medical and more general mental health advice on current and emerging issues to key stakeholders including Government, senior staff in DVA, and other government departments as required. The Chief Psychiatrist will engage with health care professionals, consumer organisations and industry on matters related to mental health policy and service reform and delivery.
This is a significant role providing the department and our clients with dedicated psychiatric expertise to support clinical governance across programs and policies, in particular our mental and social health programs.
