We offer an exciting opportunity for an Associate Professor, Rural Health ($139,666 - $153,471) to join our world-leading institution at James Cook University (JCU).   A continuing appointment, this position can be based at any JCU Regional Location – Townsville, Cairns, Thursday Island, Mt Isa, Atherton or Mackay

What you can accomplish in the Role

Joining a dynamic team of professionals, you will provide strategic and academic guidance within the College of Medicine and Dentistry to the continuing development and delivery of the Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training Program.  Linking with collaborative research within JCU and nationally, you will influence the shape of the rural health curriculum along the pathway from undergraduate to postgraduate clinical practice.

What you will bring to the Role

As a qualified medical practitioner, you will have current registration as a medical practitioner in Australia and fellowship of an Australian specialist medical college.  With extensive experience in the provision of clinical care in a rural setting, you will have a strong interest and commitment to the development of regionally based medical education initiatives that meet priority community needs and will play an active role in improving the primary health of rural, remote and underserved communities, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.  Your ability to engage, influence and negotiate effectively with multidisciplinary academics, health care professionals, community and professional bodies and other key stakeholders will see you succeed in this key leadership role.
